September 2011

This September we celebrated Back to Church Sunday with a special service on Sunday 25th September.

Back to Church Sunday is now the largest single local-church invitational initiative in the world.

It is based on the simplest and shortest step in evangelism - that we should invite someone we already know to something we love; invite our friend to our church. The initial focus was to invite ‘back’ those who used to attend, but we want to ensure that anyone who doesn’t currently attend can be guaranteed a specially warm welcome.

A great morning was had!  Looking forward to next year (30th September 2012 :) !!

December  2010

We were pleased to welcome Noel Richards and his wife Tricia on Thursday 9th December for a praise and worship concert.

Noel, one of Britain’s most popular worship leaders, has been involved in the UK Christian

Music scene since the age of 15.  During the last 20 years, he has mainly been involved in

leading worship and together with his wife Tricia and others, has written many worship songs. Perhaps the best known of these is "All Heaven Declares".  Noel has led worship at major

events in the UK and elsewhere, such as Parachute Festival (NZ), March for Jesus (UK),

Spring Harvest (UK), Worship Together (Canada, UK), Easter People (UK),

This is the Day (Hungary), Jesus Tag (Germany).  He was also involved with The Call England,

taking place in July 2002 and The Call New York City in June 2002 and San Francisco 2003.

Our own worship team started the evening in fantastic style with an uplifting time of praise,
with Noel and Tricia following, taking us through some of their well known songs as well as some brand new.  We were truly blessed to have them both with us for this very special evening.

October 2010

Reading or knowing some of the facts about human trafficking can be upsetting, but nothing like the pain the victims suffer.  We would like to think that slavery, the buying and selling of humans like the purchase of a birthday or Christmas gift went out with Wilberforce. Oh if only that were true.

People trafficking is the fastest growing means by which people are enslaved, the fastest growing international crime, and one of the largest sources of income for organised crime

The UN Office on Drugs and Crime.  Remember how we all felt at the ‘crime’ of MP’S expenses.  If only we got so angry at the following;

Human trafficking in the second largest source of illegal income worldwide exceeded only by drugs trafficking. (Belser 2005)

We can’t even begin to imagine the trauma victims go through, the trauma and pain victims today are suffering.

But we can do something "The greatest and most shameful regrets of history is always about the truth we failed to tell." (Haugen 2005)  We can do our little bit to support Stop the Traffik whose work in so many areas is helping to bring about change, to literally change or save lives.

On Saturday 16th October we are hosting a ‘culture’ night.  The Renewal Gospel Choir will be performing and afterwards the opportunity to taste foods from around the world, from Hungary,  Germany,  Scotland,  Kenya,  Zimbabwe,  Caribbean and England.

The whole night from 6.30pm is FREE but voluntary donations will be taken and every penny will go to Stop the Traffik.  Every penny will help change lives, every penny will help what Wilberforce started.

Please come and join us.

May 2010

We at Kingswood were very pleased to welcome Adrian Wyatt as our new part-time Pastor

at a special induction service held on 1st May 2010.

Adrian, has recently retired after 30 years in the Police force and was introduced to us through

the charity Hope UK (a Christian substance abuse education charity), for whom he worked as

a volunteer on their 'Drug Proof Your Kids' course which some of our members ran at the

local Secondary School.

It was as a result of this connection that Adrian was invited to preach at some of our Sunday services and, lets just say, God was at work!

Adrian, with the support of his wife Sheren, gladly agreed to be our new pastor and we look forward to what God has in store for us.
